Welcome to Your Inclusive Wellness Haven
Physical Therapy That Starts With You
At OutWellness, physical therapy begins with a full assessment and evaluation of how your body moves and the areas that are involved. During your initial visit, one of our licensed PTs will assess your movement and determine the best approach to your care, using a combination of hands-on techniques and guided movement to directly support your quality of life.
You might be coming in for:
-
chronic pain management, including conditions that overlap with or are complicated by other aspects of your health,
-
recovery from an acute injury,
-
pre-operative preparation or post-operative rehabilitation for a gender-affirming procedure,
-
or support navigating a flare, understanding how your body is responding, and building a plan that actually works for where you are right now.
Based on your evaluation, your PT will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. Early evaluation of injuries can help rule out fractures or ligament tears and prevent long-term damage, especially if symptoms like severe pain or swelling persist.
Achieve Your Fitness Goals with Confidence
For People Who Haven't Found the Right Fit Elsewhere
A lot of people come to OutWellness after seeing other physical therapists without much luck. Sometimes that’s because a condition is less commonly understood. Sometimes it’s because the environment didn’t feel affirming or the approach didn’t account for the full picture of their health.
Our physical therapists take a different approach. Sessions are one-on-one, collaborative, and built around the full picture of your health, including factors that other providers may have overlooked or dismissed. They have deep experience working with people navigating chronic pain, complex conditions, and gender-affirming care, and they work closely with gender-affirming surgeons on pre- and post-op protocols.
The belief here is that you are the expert on your own body while we bring deep expertise in movement and orthopedics, and the work is a collaboration between both.
Physical Therapy for Chronic Pain in Austin
Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons people come to OutWellness, and one of the most undertreated. Our physical therapists have extensive experience working with clients whose pain has been minimized, misdiagnosed, or simply not improved with previous care. Sessions are built around understanding how your pain behaves, recognizing symptoms and sources of discomfort, what makes it better or worse, and how to build movement strategies that work even on harder days. For people navigating flares, sessions adapt to where you are rather than pushing through in ways that don’t serve you.
Physical Therapy for Hypermobility in Austin

Physical Therapy for Gender-Affirming Care in Austin
OutWellness works closely with gender-affirming surgeons and has deep experience supporting trans and gender-diverse clients through pre- and post-operative rehabilitation. Whether you’re preparing your body for surgery, recovering afterward, and supporting post-surgical recovery, or navigating body changes related to HRT, our team can build a plan that’s grounded in your specific goals and affirming at every step.
Starting physical therapy within a few days to a few weeks after surgery is essential for regaining strength, preventing stiffness, and supporting proper healing. This is one of the areas where having queer physical therapists makes a genuine difference, both in clinical knowledge and in how care is delivered.
Physical Therapy for Injury Recovery in Austin
Whether you’re dealing with a recent acute injury or something that’s been lingering without resolution, physical therapy at OutWellness starts with a thorough assessment rather than a generic protocol. Our physical therapists’ backgrounds in orthopedics and manual therapy – including joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation – mean that treatment is informed by a detailed understanding of how your injury is affecting the way your body moves, and how to address it in a way that supports real recovery over the long term.

What Your Sessions Include
Physical therapy sessions are one hour, in person, and fully individualized. Each session begins from a place of thorough assessment and builds from there, using hands-on techniques and movement together.
Our physical therapists are trained in dry needling, which is an additional tool
available when appropriate.
Sessions are flexible in frequency, so you can build a rhythm that works for your schedule and your body. We emphasize the importance of rest as part of the recovery process, balancing activity and rest during your sessions to optimize healing and prevent stiffness.
One note on referrals: a physician referral is not required to get started, but after one month of working together, a referral will be needed to continue care. If you have questions about this, the team is happy to talk through it on your free consult call.

What Clients Say
"OutWellness is an incredible place, and Syd is the best. I saw several physical therapists for shoulder pain before finally coming here, all with no luck. Syd helped me figure out what pain management strategies actually worked for me, then helped me figure out a PT routine to resolve it. I still do the exercises they taught me and have gotten so much stronger, and I haven't had any pain in months. The gym itself is such a welcoming and affirming spot."

After one month of working together, a physician referral is needed to continue care. If you have questions about that process, it’s easy to talk through on your free consult call.
Our PTs work with a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, acute injuries, neck pain, headaches, hypermobility, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, and conditions that intersect with gender-affirming care. A few things set OutWellness apart. Sessions are one-on-one and a full hour, so there’s no splitting attention between multiple patients. We are committed to providing expert care and personalized treatment tailored to each individual’s needs. Our founding PTs come with deep experience working with queer and trans clients, including people whose conditions have been dismissed or misunderstood elsewhere. And the space itself is small, locked, and designed to feel safe.
Your first session includes a comprehensive evaluation and assessment of your medical history, movement patterns, and any functional deficits. This thorough evaluation guides the development of your personalized treatment plan. From there, our PTs will begin building a plan that combines hands-on techniques and guided movement. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, just come as you are.
Absolutely. Whether this is your first time seeing a physical therapist or you’ve had mixed experiences in the past, sessions are built around where you actually are, not where someone assumes you should be. In many cases, physical therapy can effectively address musculoskeletal issues and lead to successful outcomes for a wide range of patients.
Dry needling is an additional tool that Syd and Sienna are both trained in, and it can be incorporated into sessions when appropriate. There is no additional cost; however, we do require an additional consent form to be completed before proceeding, as part of our patient intake forms.
Almost everything that we do is in-person, especially initial sessions. However, we do offer virtual sessions strictly on a case by case basis.
